Community Consultation

Community-based participatory research (CBPR)

CBPR is an approach that creates equitable community involvement in research and represents the foundational framework for community engagement. CBPR calls for the involvement of community members across the research cycle, including but not limited to: planning, conducting/implementing, and disseminating research findings.

Research Planning

Research planning involves thinking about and clarifying a research question or problem; looking at what has been done to tackle the issue, then choosing the study population, measurements, and methods in which to collect the data.

Conducting/Implementing

Part of the inquiry-based process which involves: gathering information, analyzing, evaluating evidence, and drawing conclusions.

Disseminating

Collaborating in writing and sharing of the data, results, and conclusions to the public. Including, identifying the next steps after the study ends.

How Can CCMH Help Your Research?

Created as part of the Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award, CCMH encourages partnership between researchers and community stakeholders in a collaborative process. Each member of CCMH is an expert in their own area. Through experiences and inquiry, CCMH questions old ideas, include the voices of underrepresented people, and make change that is informed not just by scientific evidence but also by the experiences of a range of stakeholders. These stakeholders include those who live with, support, and advocate for those living with serious ming a unique approach to the planning, conducting, and sharing of research results.
